Looking forward to seeing old friends from 50 years ago!  Mary and I lost touch with many folks after retiring and leaving the Albany area in 2007.  We now spend most of our time in Naples, FL with summers on Cape Cod, MA.  We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary this year.  Our daughter, Erikka, and her husband, Kris (go figure), live in Chicago and have 2 daughters. Olivia Lis and Alessandra Louise.  Our son, Christian, and his wife, Kate, live in Albany and have a daughter, Tessa Grace.  Might have to start a Brownie Troop if we have another granddaughter!  See you all soon. I can't wait for the reunion.  Fifty years is truly a milestone.  It has been great fun working on the reunion committee  - renewing old friendships and forming new relationships (mostly with the guys that I didn't know in high school!).  VI is our common bond and I'm sure we all have some fun memories.  Looking forward to sharing those memories and creating new ones in October.

Since our 50th reunion, we made the big step of downsizing and relocating to be closer to our son and family.  After living my entire life in the Albany area, we moved to Fairport, NY outside of Rochester, NY.  We were fortunate to find a condo community right on the historic Erie Canal and are truly blessed to have found so many like-minded new friends in our new condo home.  The downsizing has allowed us to lock the door and escape the winters to sunny and warm Naples, Fl.  Though we still enjoy travel, Covid did curtail that a bit.  We were fortunate to make one last  trip to Italy then Argentina and Chile before things shut down.  If all goes as planned we will be doing a French Seine River cruise in the fall.  Looking forward to reuniting with VI friends in October.

Looking forward to our 55th reunion!  We had an aweome turnout for our 50th reunion and  the committee is once again working to bring a fabulous weekend to all of our fellow alumni and friends.   I hope some who were unable to attend the 50th will make a special effort to come to our 55th.

This year I will be celebrating my 52nd anniversary with my husband John who graduated from VI in 1965.  We met during my sophomore year and started going "steady" soon after.  Our relationship endured his 4 years of service in the Navy and we married shortly after he ended his service in 1970.   We have two wonderful children and four beautiful granddaughters who light up our lives and make our hearts sing!  Life is good....

Genealogist Married 5 5 2017-10-09 11:14:49
Kate Lancor (the former Kathleen Jones), but known to VI chums as the girl named, “Jonesy”, continues to be an experiencer of life. Her St. Rose college years included participation in Civil Rights marches, Anti War protests and attending “Woodstock”. Her engineering career began at NY Tel. Several years later she became a fulltime Mommy and professional volunteer for 18 years, was an urban pioneer (restoring a townhouse she won & still owns on the TenBroeck Triangle in Arbor Hill), lived through “one hell of a divorce” and headed back to work at NYNEX, she and her children moved in with and took care of her parents (her mom has Alzheimer’s and her dad, liver cancer), where that circle of love learned how precious each moment together was. During this time Kate met Mike, the love of her life, and after her parents’ passing they merged into a new family unit juggling jobs, 5 kids’ schedules, meetings, long, late night walks, time with dear friends, etc.
They bought a haunted house (former funeral parlor) in Troy and were instantly educated in the paranormal and survived having 5 teenagers in the house for 1 full year (which was even scarier than the house).
Several years later they moved from the convenience of inner city life to the isolation and inconvenience of rural life when husband, Mike, was appointed the school superintendent there. Kate was quickly (through necessity) educated in ice-fishing, the importance of having water in the bathtub when a torrential storm hits (because you WILL lose power and still need to flush the toilets), having a healthy stock of food, toilet paper, batteries and candles set aside for emergencies & snow storms, cooking full meals on the grill outdoors and who to call for help!
Kate continues to live in NH with Mike (but winters in Florida), has become part of the fiber that is Moultonborough, still occasionally participates in protests, greatly enjoys volunteering and participating in town event & service projects, swims daily, works as the “fudgista” (fudge-maker) for her daughter’s business, loves time with their kids, grandkids, dear friends and critters and stays open to all possibilities.
Upon retiring from their jobs, Kate & Mike became professional genealogists and started “Old Friends Genealogy” to help folks locally and internationally “chase” their ancestors.
For Kate, living LIFE to its fullest continues to be her education!
